Urban agriculture consultations in Montreal
Written by Canadian Garden Centre & Nursery

Apr. 20, 2012, Montreal — The city's Office of Public Consultation has launched a website that will allow citizens and organizations to share their urban agriculture experiences.

The public consultation aims to identify urban agriculture practices, problems encountered, and future outlooks throughout Montreal, while offering up a space for citizen collaboration. The website will provide city staff with a portrait of habits and techniques, and their distribution throughout the city's neighborhoods.

Visitors to www.montrealacultiver.com are invited to share their experiences relating to residential gardens, community gardens, institutional gardens, commercial agriculture, composting, greening and development, social and educational projects, animal husbandry, and ideas for the future.

"We at the office are very happy to be able to respond to this consultation request made by almost 30,000 Montréal citizens through the Right of Initiative," said Louise Roy, president of the Office of Public Consultation.

Several meetings and events are planned as part of the consultation, including an expo-fair on urban agriculture on May 12, a colloquy on May 17, and consultation sessions in various areas of Montréal throughout the month of June.

For more information about the consultation, visit www.ocpm.qc.ca.
